CDS has developed many solutions over the years to address a variety of limitations. These issue range from limited space, lighting and sound to audience & user requirements. Below is a list of case studies that illustrate some of the projects we have completed.
FEMA VTC Credenza
Description
For the FEMA VTC Credenza Project CDS worked with its Authorized Integrator in Tampa, FL AVI, to design a freestanding credenza, that would accept pre-wired racks of A/V equipment, have adjustastbel shelving and support (2), 65" LCD monitors alonge with a centrally-mounted VTC Camera. No Problem! The CDS CAD Department worked with AVI to take their "napkin engineered" drawing to make it production-ready. We then provided some laminate samples for the customer to choose-from and then went to town!
The credenza shipped in four, easy-to-assemble pieces, complete with the monitor mounts and hardware. No GC scheduling conflicts to deal with just shop-tested, plug-and-play, custom VTC success!
Broome Arena
Description
For the Broome Arena Project, CDS worked with their Authorized AV Integrator in Syracuse, NY, Univisions to develop a coste effective alternative to LED for video reinforcement at Broome Area in Binghamton, NY, home of the Binghamton Senators, the farm team for the NHL's Ottawa Senators. Evaluation several options, it was determined that a 2X2, 90" videowall with our VP2 Optical Screen technology and conventional LCD projectors would yield a 180" diagonal image at about a tenth the price of a similarly-sized LED display (of lesser resolution).
The client positioned one these 180" displays opposite each other in the far corners of the arena and after nearly none years, we've only had to replace one screen due to an errant slap shot!
NORAD Command Center
Description
For the NORAD Command Center Application, CDS worked with the consultants, architects, AV integrators and the enduser to design fabricate and and install a 17'-0" x 88'-0" Display Wall. Working with a constrained budget and confined physical space, CDS designed a very unique method of mounting flexible screen material seamlessly, allowing for just 3mm separation between 170" diagonal images.
16, 170" KnifeEdge framed VistaFlex Screens, FSG Mirrors, Adjustable Projector Mounting Brackets, Custom Paneling and the Complete Structure to support it all was transported from Southern California to Tyndall AFB, FL where CDS assisted Lockheed Martin-APS in the high security installation.
NOAA Command Center
Description
For the NOAA SOCC Command Center Application, CDS worked with a premier AV Consultant, Shen, Milsom & Wilke (SMW) and one of our Authorized Integrators the DC Area (Hoppmann AV) to design and install a 2x18, 100" Display Wall. Throughout the process, CDS worked directly with SMW, Hoppmann and NOAA to evaluate the latest in screen and projector technologies, setting up demonstrations and explaining differences, ultimately helping the client to make an educated decision about the final configuration.
36, 100" Screens, FSG Mirrors, Adjustable Projector Mounting Brackets, Custom Paneling and the Complete Structure to support it all was transported from Southern California to Suitland, MD, where CDS assisted Hoppmann in the time-sensitive installation.
Apache Helicopter Simulator
Description
For the AH-3 Apache Helicopter Similation application, CDS worked with its Authorized Integrator Daphne, AL, DCI, Inc. to design and install a 1x3, 100" Display Wall, using our seamlessly RazorEdge-framed VistaPower 35 Projection Screens, which are specially formulated to optimize CRT Projection.
3, 100" Screens, FSG Mirrors, Projector Mounting Brackets and the Complete Structural Enclosures were transported from Southern California to the US Army Aviation Headquarters in Ft. Rucker, AL to help train the world's finest helicopter pilots.
CITGO Refinery Control Room
Description
For the CITGO-LYNDELL Control Room in Houston, TX, CDS worked with its Authorized Integrator AVTG to design and install a 1x10, 96" Display Wall, using our VistaPower 3.0 Projection Screens, which provided exceptional contrast and brighness for this unique, 24/7 facility.
10, 96" Screens, FSG Mirrors, Adjustable Projector Mounting Brackets and the Complete Structure to support it all was transported from Southern California to Houston TX to provide the imressive Command Wall for this fantastic control room facility.
Capufe' Control Room
Description
For the Capufe' (short for "Caminos y Puentes" or "Streets & Bridges") application, CDS worked with its Authorized Integrator in Mexico, Grupo COVIX, to design and install a 2x6, 100" Display Wall, using our VistaPower 2.0 Projection Screens, which afford incredible brightness and off-axis viewing.
12, 100" Screens, FSG Mirrors, Adjustable Projector Mounting Brackets and the Complete Structure to support it all was transported from Southern California to beautiful Cuernavaca, Mexico to provide the imressive Command Wall for this fantastic control room facility.
IAC Display Wall
Description
For the IAC Building Project, CDS took the limited architectural space confines and designed a double-bounce mirror system that allowed the 74” x 132” images to be rotated from landscape to portrait and then blended, to create the highest resolution videowall of its size in the world.
24 massive Projector/Mirror Mount (PMM) rigs were shipped to sight and installed, carefully squeezing the giant 10K lumen projectors and 72” x 108” main mirrors into place. Being involved from early on in the process (including the original demo in Santa Monica with client and the architect, CDS worked very closely with the AV integrator and the local trades to overcome a number of obstacles in creating this fantastically unique display.
AMC Operations Center
Description
For the US Army Materiel Command, CDS provided a very custom, video teleconferencing-intensive Command Wall. Used extensively by Donald Rumsfeld in the Desert Storm Operation, this custom array featured a 2x6, 60" seamless VistaWall, flanked by (4), 50' Plasmas on either side, surmounted by a 12 zone LED time clock, (2) LED Alpha signs (for security status) (3), 3-Chip VTC Cameras, (3) Speakers a Subwoofer and rack-mountequipment.
All of this was freestanding and self-supported, clad in custom laminate paneling. In late 2009, the system was completely retro-fit with new equipment, extending the life of the originally fabricated Custom Display Solution.
